No Way! (Let’s Bomb Iran, Please: Part IV)

Iran has been caught shipping weapons to the Taliban.

I don’t know what to say.  I’m just shocked.

  1. “I’m just shocked.”

Shocked like when you found out Rosie was a lesbian? Or shocked like when you saw President Carter embrace yet another third world dictator?

    No you’re not…lol.

  2. Or shocked like you were when the US was shipping arms to the Taliban and Osama?

Or shocked when you were when the US was shipping arms to supposedly al Qaeda linked-militants in Lebanon?

  3. Oh, and while we’re at it, why don’t we actually spend a few moments and consider the evidence that you so quickly lap up?

The article you cite quotes current Secretary of Defense Robert Gates stating that “the U.S. did not have evidence ‘of the involvement of the Iranian government in support of the Taliban.'”

Ooh, but there is some anonymous “senior coalition official” that claims there is clear evidence. What is this evidence? We don’t know. Why would a Bush administration official shy away from such evidence? We don’t know.

Along with this anonymous source is a guy from the Rand Institute. Do you know anything about Rand? Like the fact that it is deeply connected to the defense industry and therefore stands to benefit immensely from warfare? Might that have the slightest influence on its assessment of evidence?

Again, Defense Secretary Gates says there is no evidence. An anonymous source and a person who probably stands to make a ton of money from the bombing of Iran says there is evidence.

    Please, exercise some critical reasoning.

And, while you’re at it, educate yourself about the critical differences between radical Sunnis and Shi’ites. Radical Sunnis (such as al Qaeda) are just about as anti-Shi’ite as they are anti-US (here’s a useful link to my blog). So it is tough to believe that Iran is arming the Taliban–especially when you consider how Iran offered to help us out with the Taliban and wanted to become our allies in other ways back in 2003.

  4. nice to see that you have no response to the above post.

always great to see ignorant war-mongering.

  5. Oh, I did respond, on one of the other threads Eric went bananas on. The principal point made was that ok, fine, there are nominal differences between these different groups of crazy murderers. The commonalities are more important than the differences—that commonality being that they are insane and want us dead. If their alleged differences actually, IN REALITY (as opposed to academic dorm-room “gotcha” games)make them less of a threat to us, and their actions back up that analysis, I’m more than happy to hear about it.
If a pack of wild dogs is attacking you, do you sit there and argue about how they can’t possibly be your enemy because they are of different breeds? Only if you’re a moron.
