Darfur: Part II

Truly showing their relevance and usefulness, the UN has finally declared that the government of Sudan is responsible for the genocide in Darfur.  What a bold statement!  It only took 4 years, half a million deaths, and the displacement of 2.5 million people for the great guardian of international rights to say what has been documented and known all along: that the government of Sudan has “orchestrated and participated in” the genocide.

Gosh, I hope they aren’t being too hasty.

The team sent by the UN to develop a report has urged the Security Council to take “urgent” measures such as deploying peacekeepers.  Because we all know that people standing around in blue helmets is all that’s needed to stop a genocide.

  1. And these are the people who want to be trusted to run the whole world. What a joke.

  2. In other breaking news, the official movement of the sun was not established until a UN committee decided that “rising in the east and setting in the west” was based on adequate fact and not ethnocentric.

I hope the UN purchased carbon credits for the paper for that report.
